Multi-channel Pipette

A multi-channel pipette is a laboratory tool that allows simultaneous transfer of multiple small liquid volumes. Commonly available with 8, 12,
or more channels, it increases efficiency for high-throughput applications such as PCR, ELISAs, and drug screening. Essentially, it functions as multiple traditional pipettes in a single instrument.

Key Features and Uses

Channels

Typically 8 or 12 channels; higher-throughput models may have 24, 96, or even 384 channels.

Function

Aspirates and dispenses liquid into multiple wells (e.g., 96-well plates) simultaneously, saving time and improving consistency.

Applications

  • High-throughput screening
  • Genomics and proteomics
  • Drug discovery
  • Biochemical and microbiological assays

Types

Available in manual or electronic versions. Some models allow adjustable tip spacing to accommodate different plate formats.
